"A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest a kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."

The Center for the Development of the Person LLC
offers private counseling and educational services to help people grow into ever increasing freedom to enjoy loving, creative and fulfilling lives, thus fully becoming Persons, according to the definition offered by Antonio Mercurio: "A Person is someone who is capable of freely and responsibly loving themselves, loving others and being loved".
Located at 314 South Street, Waukesha, WI, the Center for the Development of the Person LLC is a place for all those who are wanting to improve the quality of their relationships - beginning with the one they have with themselves! - and the overall quality of their own lives, so they can in turn be of service to others and to Life itself in their own unique way.
This is done through individual and group sessions, as well as through workshops, seminars and classes on specific topics.
The approach followed, based on Antonio Mercurio's Existential Personalistic Anthropology, is one that underlines the importance of taking into account the whole person - conscious and unconscious mind, body and spirit - and emphasizes focusing not so much on our traumas and pain as things we must either "cure" or "fix", but as precious energies that nudge us to evolve into more being. As Antonio Mercurio says, "the purpose of pain is to create"; our wounds from the past can actually be seen as powerful motors that help us make new choices and become ever more attuned to our true Selves, beyond all the various forms of conditioning we are each subject to, and our own reactions to them that are so often unhealthy for ourselves and others.
Each individual is seen as a uniquely important part of the whole of Life - and is supported in their journey to become truly themselves, artists of their own lives, ever more capable of creating love, beauty, truth and freedom for themselves and of sharing them with others in mutually fulfilling, responsible and joyful ways.
